Where to get a suit, shirt or áo dài tailored across the new, bigger Đà Nẵng — including Hội An. Prices, timing and the fused-vs-canvas test.

For years, the title "tailoring capital of Vietnam" belonged to Hội An — and now it arguably belongs to Đà Nẵng. Since 1 July 2025, Hội An has officially been a ward of the city, so world-class tailoring runs right across it: from the downtown veston shops and same-day áo dài stalls to the heritage old town about 40 minutes south. Expect to pay roughly 3–5 million VND (~$120–200) for a quality custom suit, dress, or áo dài, and give the tailor a few days plus at least one fitting to get it right.

In July 2025, Đà Nẵng absorbed Quảng Nam province into a single city of about 11,800 km² and roughly 3 million people. Hội An is now officially a ward inside the city limits. It is still a 30 to 45 minute drive south, but you no longer cross provincial borders to reach the famous tailoring streets. If you plan to make the drive, check our guide on how to get from Đà Nẵng to Hội An for the cheapest and fastest routes.
You also have excellent options right in the city center. Here are the three main tailoring zones and how to choose between them:
You can get a professional suit without leaving central Đà Nẵng or the beach strip. Save the Hội An run for when you want sheer selection or a whole wardrobe made at once. It makes an easy half-day trip to fold into a 5-day Đà Nẵng itinerary.
"Veston" is the local term for a men's suit jacket. A two-piece suit is the most popular request. You can order a business suit, wedding attire, or a versatile everyday blazer. Price and quality depend heavily on your fabric grade and internal construction. We explain this below so your jacket still looks great in two years.
Custom dress shirts are the best value in the city. They cost a fraction of a suit and let you experiment with collar styles, cuffs, and specific fabrics. Many travelers order three or four shirts at once because the marginal cost is so low. Trousers are just as affordable and quick to make.
Hội An is especially strong for women's wear. Shops can create cocktail dresses, evening gowns, and exact replicas of a dress from a photo. Bring a clear picture and a garment that already fits you well to use as a reference. Yaly Couture and BeBe Tailor in the Hội An cluster are top choices for formalwear.

The áo dài is the traditional Vietnamese long dress. It features a fitted silk tunic with high slits worn over wide trousers. A proper áo dài is cut very close to the body and requires a real fitting. A dress made from a single quick measurement rarely sits right across the chest and shoulders. Pay attention to the fabric. The cheapest options use thin polyester that creases and shines under light. Real silk or a heavier silk blend drapes beautifully and costs more. Ask for natural silk and feel the fabric. It should feel cool and slightly weighty, never slippery or plasticky. In the Hội An cluster, Yaly Couture and BeBe Tailor both make áo dài to measure.

Why might one shop quote 3 million VND for a suit and another quote 8 million VND? You pay for the fabric and the cut, make, and trim (CMT) labor. A standard wool-blend is cheap. Genuine 100% Italian or English wool sits in a completely different price bracket. When comparing quotes, make sure you are comparing the exact same fabric grade and construction style. At the very top end, a true full-canvas, hand-finished suit can run beyond these figures.
This is the most important detail to check before you hand over any money. A suit jacket has an inner layer that gives the chest its shape. How the tailor attaches that layer changes everything.
The pinch test takes five seconds and reveals exactly what you are buying. Pinch the front of the jacket at the chest, just below the buttons. Rub the layers between your fingers. If you feel a third, floating layer between the outer cloth and the inner lining, the jacket is canvassed. If it feels stuck flat like two glued sheets, it is fused. Do this on a finished jacket in the shop before you order.
Ask the tailor directly if the jacket is fused, half-canvas, or full-canvas. If they claim it is canvassed, ask to feel a finished jacket. A good shop will gladly show you.
A fitting in progress: a tailor pins a custom áo dài on a customer in Hội An.
A proper custom job takes time. Here is the standard sequence:
Budget your time honestly. A proper canvassed suit with one or two fittings takes about 5 to 7 days. The famous 24-hour suit exists, but shops usually hit that deadline by using fused construction and skipping a real fitting. You trade fit and longevity for speed. Give a good suit a full week. Hội An's shops manage their fast turnaround with pre-drafted patterns and a large in-house workforce, rather than taking shortcuts on your particular fit.
Between fittings, you have plenty of time to explore. Grab a long lunch using our guide to what to eat on your first trip to Đà Nẵng or spend an afternoon enjoying the local coffee scene.
Many tailoring shops cater specifically to people on short trips.
A rushed remote order can fit poorly. Your first suit serves as your template, so get that one right in person.
Here is a mix of city-center and Hội An shops to start your search. Confirm everything before you commit. Shops rename, move, and change prices frequently. Treat these as leads.
A long-running bespoke house on the Hùng Vương tailoring strip, with a newer flagship at 1C Trần Quốc Toản. It tailors for men and women, features a dedicated "Lady Suit" line, and ships internationally.
A factory-backed Vietnamese menswear brand owned by Hòa Thọ Textile. It offers a made-to-measure veston service with fixed pricing and dependable finishing rather than independent bespoke craft. It sits in Cẩm Lệ, a fair drive from the beach and old town.
A men's bespoke specialist formerly known as MAN.HO Tailor. It reportedly holds a 5,000-plus fabric library. Go here if you want to spend real time choosing cloth.
The big name in the Hội An old town. It is a large operation with four branches, a huge fabric range, and the skill for suits, evening dresses, and áo dài alike. It ships worldwide. The 47 Nguyễn Thái Học "Signature" shop is the flagship.
A Hội An favorite with three branches. It is known for women's dresses and áo dài as well as men's suits. The shop offers hotel delivery and ships internationally, which is handy if you run out of trip time.
Not a single shop but a cluster of fabric and tailor stalls on the second floor of Hàn Market, right in the city center. This is the budget, fast-turnaround option travelers love. Pick a fabric in the morning and a simple áo dài can be ready the same afternoon, often delivered to your hotel. Quality is market-level. It works best for a quick áo dài or a casual piece rather than a serious canvassed suit. Compare a few stalls, bargain, and check the stitching before you pay.
The difference between a suit you wear for years and one that sits in the closet comes down to preparation.
Is it cheaper to tailor in Đà Nẵng city or the Hội An area? Prices are broadly comparable now that both sit inside the same city. The bigger price difference comes from fabric grade and construction. City-center shops offer sharp value because they serve locals. The Hội An cluster wins on choice and volume.
How many days do I need for a custom suit? Plan on about 5 to 7 days for a properly canvassed suit with one or two fittings. You can get a fused suit in 24 hours, but you will feel the difference in fit and longevity.
Can I get an áo dài made? Yes. It is a local specialty, especially in the Hội An cluster. Insist on natural silk or a silk blend rather than thin polyester. Make sure you do a proper fitting since the áo dài is cut close to the body. Yaly Couture and BeBe Tailor both make áo dài to measure, while the upstairs stalls at Hàn Market are the go-to for a fast, cheap one.
What is a fair price for a tailored suit here? Roughly 3 to 5 million VND ($120–200) gets you a solid wool-blend suit. Spending 5 to 9 million VND ($200–360) moves you into premium cloth and half-canvas or full-canvas construction. A true full-canvas, hand-finished suit can run higher still. Anything advertised far below this is likely fused with a basic blend.
Do tailors deliver to my hotel or ship abroad? Many shops will deliver finished garments to your Đà Nẵng hotel. Some will ship internationally if you are short on time. Confirm the cost, the timeline, and who pays for return alterations before you rely on shipping.
